Join us for a talk on the Journey of Talking Devices by Brijesh Chettejana Appachu, Co-Founder & CEO at Just Robotics, followed by a hands-on fun exploration by Nidhi Kulkarni, an industrial and product designer with a keen interest in electronic gadgets.
About the Session:
In his talk, Brijesh will present the journey of communication devices with a focus on science, technology and the cultural influences that give current devices the fundamental building blocks for innovation in design.
The workshop will be jointly led by Brijesh and Nidhi to facilitate pre-registered participants to toy with sensors and micro-controllers and work towards contributing to a work-in-progress arts installation for the final exhibition in February 2019. Participants are encouraged to bring along a dial desk and touch-tone telephones to take apart and engage in a playful exercise.
These two events are third in a series that will lead up to the Talking Devices Exhibition which will open at VITM in February 2019 and will be curated by IFA Fellows Anupama Gowda and Pavan Kumar.
About the Fellows:
Anupama Gowda trained in arts and management, with a Master's in Gallery Studies and Critical Curating from the University of Essex, United Kingdom and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management in Marketing and Human Resource from the Mount Carmel Institute of Management, Bangalore. She has been a recipient of the Charles Wallace India Trust Award in 2007 and an ARThinkSouthAsia Fellow in 2012. She was also a recipient of the MIT Media Lab India Initiative under the 'Creative Learning' Track.
Pavan Kumar trained in Mechanical Engineering and is the Founder/CEO of Workbench Projects, a makerspace/FabLab in Bangalore. He has spearheaded industry-based hackathons and was co-curator of Maker Faire Bengaluru, 2017, working extensively with fellow-makers, technologists and industry specialists.
