Project 560, 2015 - Curated Walks: Arts Walk on MG Road | October 31, 2015 | Bangalore

Registration for the Arts Walk at MG Road on October 31, 2015 is now open.

The M G Road Arts Walk with Avehi Menon and Archit Guha will focus on the memories of people through recorded oral narratives – accounts that speak of a longer history of the arts. These chronicles bring together cinema, music, and photography in the old South Parade, our current M G Road. This walk will involve a curated soundscape that people will be able to listen to as we rediscover one of the most popular streets in Bangalore.

M G Road has long been a site for the production and consumption of popular culture. Originally part of the ‘cantonment’ precinct, it has been home to restaurants, bars, cinema halls, photo studios and several other establishments that have nurtured the arts.

Avehi and Archit from the Centre for Public History (CPH) at the Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology will be conducting the walk. CPH has been collecting and curating oral histories of Bangalore since its inception in 2011, and aims to communicate these to a wider audience through walks and other public forums.
