Grant Period: Over one year and six months

For the development of a game-art environment, by a moving image artist, based on the speculations around the remains of Queen Ketevan of Georgia in Goa. Using archival materials, the project aims to question the legitimacy of proof in the reading of history, while experimenting with the limits of film, games and the digital media. The outcome of the project will be an installation that will allow interaction between traditional board games and interactive screen games, ideally, situated in a gallery.

Grant Period: Over five months

For the ALTlab residency programme, which encourages photographers to experiment with alternative photography processes and materials. Four photographers concerned with form-based experimentation will come together for two months at the laboratory of the Goa Centre for Alternative Photography. Their image experiments will be exhibited at the end of the residency.

Grant Period: Over four months

For the second edition of a four-month residency programme, which will enable four Indian photographers from diverse cultural backgrounds to explore and experiment with different approaches to the photographic medium. This edition will introduce a three-day walking expedition to sensitise the residents to the local ethos and encourage them to use the experience to reflect on their practice.

Grant Period: Over one year

For research into the work of artists Angelo Da Fonseca, whose paintings gave Christian art an Indian face in Portuguese Goa of the late colonial period. The research will trace the trajectory of Fonseca’s work in relation to the formation of the complex national identities within small enclaves like Goa. The research will lead to a monograph, the publication of two critical essays and an inventory of all of Fonseca works that exist outside the Xavier Centre of Historical Research, Goa.

Grant Period: Over one year

For research towards a book of thematic essays that investigate the nature, outcome and predicament of critical practices in architecture of the post-independence era, within a broader culture of building.

Kala Academy


Grant Period: Over two years

For establishing a research cell at the School of Drama, Kala Academy, to field-test existing syllabi for theatre in schools in Goa. The School will also develop its own curriculum and short-term training programmes for theatre teachers, apart from a manual on theatre pedagogy.
