India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) is delighted to present Afterlife of Memories: The IFA Archive, as part of "Stage Talks" at The Hyderabad Literary Festival 2019, organised by Hyderabad Literary Trust and Government of Telangana, on Saturday, January 26, 2019, 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM at The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet.
The IFA Archive (in both its physical and digital forms) has grown to become a rich and valuable repository of a legion of artistic and scholarly engagements and reflections of India's lived experiences. The opening of The IFA Archive to the public in October 2018, in its physical and digital forms, uncovers this world of little-known chronicles in a multitude of artistic forms and languages.
The session will open with Dastan ek Talib ki (Story of a Seeker) a performance of Dastangoi by Kafeel Jafri, commissioned specially for the launch of The IFA Archive. Dastangoi is a form of storytelling which was popular in the 13th century Arab and Persian worlds and was later adapted by storytellers in the region of India. This is a story of a young boy who sets out to find answers to his questions and ends up in a magical world where the lives, artistic practices and quests of his many ancestors mesmerise him. To find out what happens to him, please come and listen to us.
Following which, Arundhati Ghosh, Executive Director, IFA and Spandana Bhowmik, Archivist will also present the work of the Foundation and conception of The IFA Archive. They will also share the progress thus far, key milestones and expectations from The IFA Archive, from its beginnings to the processes and challenges the team faced in building it.
