Surojit Sen: Philosophy of the Fakirs of Bengal
In 2007 IFA began a language initiative, under its Arts Research and Documentation programme, to support projects that make a significant contribution towards the creation of knowledge resources in the arts. At present, this process of discovery and documentation is being undertaken for Bengali. Soon we hope to expand this initiative to include other regional languages.Surojit wrote Fakirnama, a travelogue in Bengali, describing his association with different fakirs and narrating their stories. He has also created an archive of their songs.
Subhendu Dasgupta: History of Bengali Cartoons
In 2007 IFA began a language initiative, under its Arts Research and Documentation programme, to support projects that make a significant contribution towards the creation of knowledge resources in the arts. At present, this process of discovery and documentation is being undertaken for Bengali. Soon we hope to expand this initiative to include other regional languages.Subhendu is writing a book on the history of Bengali cartoons—a form of creative expression which has been given only passing attention in Indian art discourse and Indian historiography.
Sandip Dutta: Digitizing Bengali Little Magazines
In 2007 IFA began a language initiative, under its Arts Research and Documentation programme, to support projects that make a significant contribution towards the creation of knowledge resources in the arts. At present, this process of discovery and documentation is being undertaken for Bengali. Soon we hope to expand this initiative to include other regional languages.Sandip digitized an important part of his exhaustive library of Bengali Little Magazines for the purposes of preservation and wider public access.
Kamal Saha: Encyclopedia of Theatre in Bengal

Soon we hope to expand this initiative to include other regional languages.Kamal produced an encyclopedia and an internet archive on theatre in Bengal.
The Jadavpur School of Women's Studies: Digital Archive of Historical Photographs of Bengali Women

At present, this process of discovery and documentation is being undertaken for Bengali. Soon we hope to expand this initiative to include other regional languages.
This film is about the work done by the faculty of the School of Women's Studies, Jadavpur University, towards the creation of a digital archive of 11,000 historical photographs of urban middle-class Brahmo Bengali women -- a comprehensive record of the changing position of women in Bengal and of photographic practices in India.
