Grants to Teachers
The initiative of this grant is to encourage teachers from government schools in Karnataka to look beyond their subject teaching and explore possibilities in arts education; create opportunities for teachers and artists across disciplines to become joint stakeholders in the school community; and enrich curriculum and classroom teaching – through artistic interventions.
In the last three years, IFA has given 20 grants to teachers for projects across the state. These grants have paved the way for exciting and innovative field-based applications of arts education within the government school context and re-energised the community’s relationship with education and the school environment. Projects have focused on various art forms such as the visual arts, performing arts, literature, journalism as well as expressions, documentation, storytelling, design and mathematics, science and poetry, puppetry, translations, environmental concerns and reintroducing folk cultures to education.
