Project Period: One year and three months

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research on the interconnectedness and interdisciplinary links in the materials (writings, photographs, oral history recordings) of select collections in the Archives at National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore, Karnataka, to provide an accessible window into the history and practice of science and its potential to help us imagine inclusively meaningful futures. The outcomes of the project will be audiovisual presentations that will weave material from across the collection under selected themes; a digital pictorial book; screenings of archival footage; and curated film screenings exploring the themes of human and nature. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the digital copy of the pictorial book, archival footage and images, and documentation of the audio visual presentations, film screenings and public programming. This is a collaboration with the Archives at National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore, Karnataka. Project funds will pay for contract fees, travel and living, production, archives and museums fees and subscription to software.

Project Period: One year and three months

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research and production of an audio guide for the Rani Abbakka Tulu Nadu Museum. Focusing on the collection of the museum, the audio guide seeks to create an immersive walkthrough of the museum. The primary outcome of the project will be seven and half hours of audio housed on Soundcloud and Youtube. In addition, there will be audiograms for social media platforms. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the audio files of the guide, an introductory film and the audiograms. This is a collaboration with the Rani Abbaka Tulu Nadu Museum, Bantwal, Karnataka. Project funds will pay for travel and living, contract fees, production and subscription of software services.

Project Period: One year and three months

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research towards creative outcomes on the letters of correspondences in the collection of the Archives at National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), through a feminist epistemology entry point. The outcomes of the project will be a collapsible-extendable-mobile performance script and a sound installation inspired by the ideas of opacity and translucency in archives and acts of listening. The Project Coordinator’s final deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the performance script, audio-visual documentation of the online and offline performances, photos and audios of the installation. This is a collaboration with the Archives at NCBS, Bangalore, Karnataka. Project funds will pay for contract fees, travel and living, and production.

Project Period: One year and three months

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research to trace the path of public health discourse in popular written texts, such as novels, poetry, and newspapers to name a few, using the example of Swasth Hind, a health magazine published by the Central Health Education Bureau, New Delhi and circulated in India from 1958 to 1999. The primary outcome of the project will be a manuscript of an article. In addition, there will be an attempt to create an annotated archival catalogue along with an exhibition and workshop. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the manuscript of the article, annotated archival catalogue and images and video documentation of the exhibition and the workshop. This is a collaboration with the Archives at National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore, Karnataka. Project funds will pay for contract fees, travel and living, production, purchase of equipment, printing and stationery, archives and museums fees.

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research and creation of an interactive website featuring animated textile stories, put together from various textile related issues from the archives of The Marg Foundation. The primary outcome of the project will be an interactive website with animated textile stories, along with short-form videos and social media clips. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA, along with the final reports will be 10 animated textile narratives, a user-friendly site, and content created for social media platforms. This is a collaboration with the archives at The Marg Foundation, Mumbai, Maharashtra. Project funds will pay for contract fees, publicity and marketing, website and domain charges and purchase of software.

Project Period: One year and three months

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research and analysis towards creation of a publication and exhibition based on materiality of 'paper' and how it was positioned, discussed and not-discussed mainly in the advertisements published in Marg during the first decade, ie 1946 to 1956. The primary outcome of the project will be 100 copies of an artist book and an exhibition. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the artist book, along with texts, samples of paper-materials generated as part of the project, a manuscript, materials and elements, mainly papers and auxiliary objects which will emerge from making the book, the documentation of the exhibition and a dossier of the ephemera related to the exhibition. Additionally, the Project Coordinator will submit audiotapes of the interaction with different people during the course of the project. This is collaboration with the archives of The Marg Foundation, Mumbai, Maharashtra. Project funds will pay for contract fees, exhibition, travel and living, materials, publication, hire of equipment, archives and library fees.

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research towards production of a comprehensive illustrated catalogue for selected objects from the collection of Silver at Zapurza Museum of Art and Cultures (ZMAC) in Pune, Maharashtra. The research for the catalogue will anchor itself at the intersection of history of design, consumption and material culture. The outcomes of this project will be the draft of the illustrated catalogue along with workshops and plans and prototypes of public programming that will be executed during the course of the project and beyond that by the museum. The Project Coordinator’s final deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the draft of the illustrated catalogue, supplementary research outputs, the proceedings and audio-visual recordings of the workshop and the plans of the public programming. This is a collaboration with the Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture in Pune, Maharashtra. Project funds will pay for contract fees, travel and living, purchase of books, printing and workshop.

Project Period: One year

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research towards an exhibition and a catalogue essay of selected objects from the collection of Silver at Zapurza Museum of Art and Cultures (ZMAC) in Pune, Maharashtra. The exhibition will create a narrative-based scenography by looking at a select range of objects, curated through the lens of domesticity, gender, patronage and changing consumption patterns. The outcomes of this project will be an exhibition plan and curatorial inputs, catalogue essay, object notes to accompany the exhibition, detailed research notes and bibliography, an online or hybrid seminar, training modules for museum staff and prototype for on-site activities. The Project Coordinator’s final deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the photographs and curatorial notes of the exhibition, detailed research notes and bibliography, draft of the catalogue essay, the proceedings and audio-visual recordings of the seminar, and drafts of the plan and prototype for onsite activities at the museums. This is a collaboration with the Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture in Pune, Maharashtra. Project funds will pay for travel and living, contract fees, archive and library fees.

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research towards creation of two exhibitions on the artistic legacy of Pune based on the collections at Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture in Pune, Maharashtra. The project will explore how art evolved in Pune when it was the seat of Maratha rule, how the emergent visual arts and literary world influenced nationalist movement, its evolution under colonial influence and finally how it was informed and shaped by the tradition of community practices, rituals and festivals. The outcomes of this project will be the two exhibitions, draft of research essays, audio-visual documentation and a series of public programming including workshops. The Project Coordinator’s final deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the photos and videos of the exhibitions, curatorial research output, the research essays, copies of audio-visual documentation and proceedings from the workshops and public programming. This is a collaboration with the Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture in Pune, Maharashtra. Project funds will pay for contract fees, materials, travel and living, printing, hire of equipment and workshop.

For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will facilitate research on the intellectual histories of Pune, focusing on the intersections of the visual arts traditions of Pune as well as the rich legacy of literature, cinema, theatre, musical practices and its histories of social reforms. By engaging with the collection at Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture (ZMAC) in Pune, Maharashtra, the research will explore the ways in which these objects or artifacts spoke to the historical moment in the urban and sub-urban narratives of Pune. The outcomes of this project will be the draft of research publication/s, a series of public lectures and programming and an extended curatorial catalogue created around the selected objects for online interface and social media. The Project Coordinator’s final deliverables to IFA along with the final reports will be the draft of research publication/s, the illustrated catalogue, the proceedings and audio-visual recordings of the public lecture and programming and the curatorial catalogue. This is a collaboration with the Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture in Pune, Maharashtra.
